E&I ENGINEER - FOWT

The E&I Engineer - FOWT is responsible for the design, installation, and maintenance of electrical and instrumentation systems specifically tailored for Gazelle's platforms. With expertise in electrical engineering and instrumentation, this role ensures the seamless integration and efficient operation of electrical components, control systems, and sensors within the FOWT infrastructure. Responsibilities include developing electrical and instrumentation designs, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams for system integration, conducting risk assessments, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and safety protocols.

Professional experience

  • 5 years of experience in electrical and instrumentation engineering, preferably in the renewable energy sector or a related industry.
  • Demonstrated experience in electrical systems design, instrumentation, and control systems, with exposure to offshore or marine environments.
  • Familiarity with offshore wind turbine systems and associated electrical components is highly desirable.

Specific professional specialization relevant

  • Expertise in electrical systems design and integration for floating offshore wind turbine (FOWT) platforms, including power distribution, control systems, and instrumentation.
  • Proficiency in instrumentation and sensor technologies used for monitoring and control of offshore wind turbine operations, including SCADA systems.
  • Understanding of electrical grid integration, power conversion systems, and energy storage solutions relevant to offshore wind energy.

Others requirements

  • Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, including power generation, transmission, and distribution, as well as instrumentation and control systems.
  • Familiarity with international standards and regulations governing electrical systems and safety practices in offshore environments.
  • Experience with design software tools such as AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar, as well as simulation tools for electrical systems analysis.
  • Proficiency with using Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and MATLAB.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve electrical and instrumentation issues in offshore environments.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of project management principles and practices, including the ability to plan, organize, and execute engineering activities within project schedules and budgets.
  • Fluency in English is required; Portuguese is beneficial but not mandatory.

Activities/Functions

  • Design and integrate electrical systems for Gazelle's platforms, including power distribution networks, control systems, instrumentation, and communication networks.
  • Specify and select electrical equipment, components, and instrumentation for platform installations, ensuring compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, structural, and other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems into overall FOWT designs.
  • Develop technical specifications, drawings, and documentation for electrical systems and components, including schematic diagrams, wiring layouts, and equipment specifications.
  • Conduct risk assessments and safety evaluations for electrical systems and instrumentation, implementing mitigation measures to ensure safe and reliable operation in offshore environments.
  • Provide technical support during procurement, fabrication, installation, and commissioning phases of Gazelle's projects, coordinating with suppliers, contractors, and regulatory agencies as needed.
  • Perform system testing, commissioning, and performance optimization of electrical and instrumentation systems, including troubleshooting and resolution of operational issues.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in offshore wind energy and electrical engineering, contributing to the continuous improvement of engineering processes and methodologies.

General conditions

    Location:

  • Based in our Viana do Castelo office.
  • Contract & Working Hours:

  • Permanent contract with an initial trial period.
  • 40-hour work week.
  • Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary range: €3,571 - €5,714 gross per month (based on experience), 14 salaries per year.
  • Food allowance: €9.60 per working day (approx. €200 net per month, paid 11 times per year).
